原來，不是我挑剔，已經有不少人也討論，American Sniper 的愛國主義，偏頗、牽強、有問題。最令人難以理解的是，一個思想與道德基礎有問題的愛國主義者，為什麼會被當成是個英雄來崇拜，如此，不是更強化了對立與仇恨嗎？下面這段話，還幫德高望重的 Eastwood，委婉地解釋，不知是不是刻意的？（這麼大年紀了，早已清楚分寸，是故意，還是不小心？）
How much, if at all, should Eastwood concern himself with fans who misunderstand and misuse his work? If he, intentionally or not, makes a hero out of Kyle – who, bare minimum, was a racist who took pleasure in dehumanising and killing brown people – is he responsible for validating racism, murder, and dehumanisation? Is he a propagandist if people use his work as propaganda?
下面這段話，更讓我驚嚇：這樣的自傳，拿出來改編成電影，不是太危險了嗎。Why?! 再想想電影裡提到的蘇聯與穆斯林，還是覺得，政治目的明顯。
Chris Kyle, a US navy Seal from Texas, was deployed to Iraq in 2003 and claimed to have killed more than 255 people during his six-year military career. In his memoir, Kyle reportedly described killing as “fun”, something he “loved”; he was unwavering in his belief that everyone he shot was a “bad guy”. “I hate the damn savages,” he wrote. “I couldn’t give a flying fuck about the Iraqis.” He bragged about murdering looters during Hurricane Katrina, though that was never substantiated.
